Veteran technology journalist David Kirkpatrick has taken a leave of absence from his regular position as Fortune Magazine's Fast Forward technology columnist to write a book called "The Facebook Effect" to be published in September 2009 by Simon & Schuster. David, who plans to chronicle the rise of the Facebook phenomenon, said that the popular social network is likely to have a significant impact on our social lives, business, politics and even international relations.
